New action plan to tackle hate crime

The Strategic Hate Crime Prevention Partnership has launched its 2018-2021 hate crime prevention strategy for Essex, focusing on: Improving victim satisfaction; dismantling barriers to reporting hate crime; improving the operational response to hate crime; and increasing public awareness of hate crime and promoting positive values.

As well as working with children and young people, and providing guidance around hate crime, actions from the strategy will include: working with public transport networks; promoting third party reporting centres; and working with Neighbourhood Watch, Essex Carers Network and other partners to promote awareness.

Key partners including Essex Police, Stop Hate UK, Essex Local Authorities, and Victim Support will work toward achieving the Strategy’s objectives across.
