Redesigning services to empower citizens

A prototype to better understand how citizens interact with a digital app that supports them to organise their own care and support, and the impact of doing so, is currently being trialled in Colchester Hospital.

The initiative has been delivered by a new partnership between Essex County Council's Adult Social Care, Essex Service Design and FutureGov, as part of a new programme to better understand, and re-design, how people living in Essex can access and interact with information, advice and guidance to live an independent, healthy and fulfilling life. There are two lenses for this work; in the community, and through the hospital setting.

Feedback from ECC's adults digital programme, which seeks to develop and deploy technology to modernise and improve the way in which services are delivered, has shown people (citizens and professionals), struggle to navigate their way through the maze of information, services and support available in Essex.
